  • Shouldn't "Ririko Kagome"s page be titled "Ririko Kagome" instead of "Kagome, Ririko"?174.61.216.224 05:35, May 8, 2011 (UTC)

Name meaning[]

Her name is pretty interesting. A straight Google translate says that kagome means "the holes in a basket", but there's more to it. Depending on how it's written, as a name Kagome can mean several different things:

  • 'beautiful' / 'blessed' / 'love': obviously that fits her
  • 'incense'/'fragrance', which we know she likes
  • 'caged bird': idk, is this meant metaphorically?
  • https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kagome_Kagome, a mysterious traditional children's song about a demon

Ririko seems to be associated with pattern, science, the way of things. Also solemn and dignified. Fits her pretty well.

Has Akihisa Ikeda ever spoken about what her name is supposed to mean, or is it one of those things that's so obvious to Japanese speakers that it doesn't need to be stated?
