Personality[edit | edit source]
Saizo was portrayed as the typical school bully kind of guy. He was feared all over the school for his fierce temper and strength. According to a few students, he was sent to Yōkai Academy for getting into trouble with human girls, and that Yōkai Academy was used as a reform school type of punishment.
In the manga, he seems to have developed somewhat of an obsession over defeating and killing Tsukune Aono, who he believes to be a vampire. Another obsession of his is Moka Akashiya, who he constantly flirts with and tries to "get with" in both of his appearances.
Manga[edit | edit source]
In the manga, Saizo is a bully who uses his powers to his advantage when he "flirts" with women.
Saizo proceeded to flirt with Moka, both suggestively and forcefully, and threatened Tsukune that he would kill him if he saw the two together again. He caught up with Moka after Tsukune made her cry by saying that he hated monsters and tried to flirt again, but Moka was not interested. In desperation, he revealed his true form in an attempt to have her. Luckily, Tsukune stood up for Moka and pulled off her Rosario Cross. Moka defeated Saizo and he was not seen again for 19 chapters.
In his next appearance, Saizo had apparently allied himself with ANTI-THESIS in order to exact his revenge against Tsukune Aono, who he believed to be a vampire. He and Moroha ambushed Tsukune and Moka with the intent to kill Tsukune and have his way with Moka. Tsukune defeated him after transforming into a vampire. Saizo was later killed for this failure.
Anime[edit | edit source]
Unlike the manga, Saizo is said to be an Orc in the anime adaption.
Saizo's voracious appetite for women was toned down to only implying his true intentions in the anime (most likely because this was too mature for the audience and would offend some viewers).
His next appearance wasn't until Capu2, when it was "Parents' Day" at Yōkai Academy. Even then, this appearance was brief. Saizo is seen brooding over his desk; Moka and Tsukune question each other why he looks so down, when his parents are among the crowd coming to see their children. Happy to see his parents again, his personality towards them is revealed to be that of a small child, even calling them "Mommy" and "Daddy" respectively. And then he involuntarily stops the fight between Ageha Kurono (Kurumu's mother) and Tsurara Shirayuki (Mizore's mother).
Another appearance in Cap2 was during the Curry episode, where he was seen to sawing a piece of wood while not paying any attention to what is going on around him. He was too busy thinking about what the girls were making in Cooking Class. He is later seen as a curry zombie holding onto a pillar when the curry spreads throughout the entire school, he states that he can still eat the oncoming curry before being taken by the wave. His final appearance is at the end of the series finale when everybody's celebrating Tsukune's return.
Powers & Abilities[edit | edit source]
Even in his sealed state Saizo has a lot of strength, enough to make a large crater in the wall after narrowly missing Tsukune's head.
When Saizo reveals his true form, his body changes drastically. He becomes a hulking beast with fangs and a long tongue. While unsealed, his strength is not only enhanced but because of his bigger build, he can inflict a lot more damage.
Trivia[edit | edit source]
- Saizo has seen both Moka and Tsukune's first transformations into their vampire states, and been beaten by both of them.
- He was mistakenly labeled as a werewolf in Chapter 20 of the English manga.
- Orcs are monsters of mixed lineage.
