Actually, the "ou" sound is basically the same sound as the letter on its own (so if you state the name of the letter)
But the letter "o" by itself can be "oh" or "oo"... it can have 2 sounds while "ou" is actually just "oh" like "Oh no".
Why? Cause English is stupid like that. My grandmother complains about how hard it is to write English, cause while the letters are simple, the way they work with other words is kinda dumb....
So "ō" = "ou"
And yes, people can "copy and paste" but that would be too tiring to do over and over again, so the proper way to do it is "ou" and that's how it is done in the community.
You're the one that keeps on arguing... and posting on threds that nobody has touched in a while. So who is the one trying to argue?
I actually point out what you are saying is wrong when it actually is wrong. Just because I don't follow what you are saying, that counts as me just "love to argue and correct"? Your points are about making changes to the wiki and stating if something is wrong or right.
I'm not supposed to just act like an idiot and agree with you just because you say so.
And did you notice I only went against your points that were wrong? Any time you stated something right, I never went against it.
And, the reason "ou" is used instead of just "o" is because of the fact that his name is "Tōhō" using "'''''ō'''''".
And that ō is closer to "ou" than "o"
The actual correct way would be "'''''ō'''''" but that is harder to type, so they make it use "ou" instead cause they make the same sound.
And you are using Wikipedia as your source??? That is something that could also have mistakes and could have no basis.
If anyone loves to argue, it's you.
You find the barest of info and then try to state that something is wrong without actually checking out the entire story.
Ummm... no, it isn't one whole name.
"Touhou" means "East" and "Fuhai" is "Undefeated".
So he's the "Undefeated of the East". It wasn't meant as a single word, but 2...
Again, you are only saying your preferences...
@GabbyComitotheGreat
1st, "Just believe me" doesn't work.
2nd, you realize that the Japanese Language often add little sound when using certain words. Example "Sairento Kirigu" which is just them saying "Silent Killing"... you see the problem? Also, Cocoa is pronounced "Koko" when actually spoken in English, so that itself could actually be considered correct. And the name should be pronounced similarly.
3rd, Why the heck would it be stupid to write her name as Mocha? That could actually be considered a proper translation. They are even pronounced the exact same way.
Frankly, rather than pointing out "right" or "wrong", your just pointing out what you like or dislike.
@GabbyComitotheGreat
Ummm.... you know, while it's true that they are pronounced that way in the Japanese, that doesn't exactly mean that's how it should be.
You see.... there is a thing called "Accent"
So if in Japan, they want to say "Bill", they'd usually say "Biru"
Kokoa's name is from "Cocoa", Akua is from "Aqua" and Moka is from "Mocha"... so either translation could work.
The thing is, translating names aren't always the easiest thing, cause unless if it's an obvious Japanese or English name, then often, it'd be weird translating it...
Other famous cases would be "Rufy" vs Luffy, and "Zolo" vs Zoro, and "Kuririn" vs Krillin and "Bloomer" vs "Bulma".
Even the official companies dealing with these have issues, and often, it's what is most popular with fans that could get through in the end.
In Rosario Vampire's case, both translations could be considered correct, but "Kokoa" "Moka" and "Akua" are the most used versions and as such, should be kept for the wiki.
This is a harem manga, a bunch of girls getting in a position where the guy does something special for them causeing them to fall for him is common in harem manga. For Mizori, she was a loner, after sympathizing with Tsukune who wrote like he was weak, she gained an intrest, she like many snowwoman of legend fell for him (so it's a species thing). After he becomes one of her 1st friends and rescues her and helps her make more friends and constantly risks his life for her and her friends, she couldn't help but love him. But it all started with her speicies thing of gaining an intrest in a man and freezing them (read about the Yuki-onna).
I didn't say all of them were good, I said "some" were good; plus lots of the fan trans don't get the info if it's supposed to be different until after the official guys translate it... the only problem is that fan translations are free while the official is payed for AND it's official..... I think that since it's official and the translators are getting payed for their work (which many and most don't get paid in the fan trans), they should do a much better job. But again, I didn't say all fan translatons were great and I stated that some were better than others; my point was that you could find better trans for many series' for free compared to the 'official' stuff; I never denied that there are crappy fan trans or good official (they do exist).
Actually, the "official" translations aren't always accurate. They localize their translations a bit, and they use some censorship and sometimes they just incorrectly translate it...... Of course, it is impossible to have perfect translations; but usually, when it comes to subs and translating manga, the "official" version is usually crap.......sometimes the authors gave their own english translations of names and stuff so we know the correct way, but it is usually said in the manga volumes; and even then, once you modify the names, the fan translations end up being better. It's a sad truth.... that being said, you'll still get the same story with the "official" stuff and it was because of the "official" translations that I found the fan scanlations (some of them are crappier than others, but the better fansubs and translations beat the "official" translations anyday)
